ABOUT US

Brief History

We took over Maple Montessori Nursery in September 2018. Previously, we ran a well known Independent School in Croydon, catering for children from age 3 to 11 years.

Expert Team

Our staff are highly trained, with many years of experience working in both the Nursery and Primary sectors.

Quality Guaranteed

Working closely in partnership with parents, we provide the highest quality of care, educational delivery and support for children. Ultimately, we ensure Maple Montessori Nursery School is a happy place for everyone.

Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the School Policies section of our website. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to a child's welfare. We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are Pauline Khoo (Head Teacher) - Lead Safeguarding Officer, Maristar Dias - Deputy Safeguarding Officer.

Learning Support

Maple Montessori Nursery School operates a non-selective entry system; all classes are of mixed ability. Some children may require additional support if they are identified as having learning difficulties. All teachers are aware of various learning styles and difficulties that might manifest and are rigorous in working with our SEND co-ordinator to ensure that our children are appropriately supported both in and outside of the classroom. This can also be through small group work and interventions. Teachers adapt a variety of different strategies in nursery to ensure that the needs of all pupils are met.

Please refer to the SEND Policy for further information.

Assessments
Assessments are made by observing children and these observations can be written, photographic or examples of their work. Observations are used as evidence and create an Early Years Profile for each child. These profiles show children's achievements and their learning journey. This is a working document which is continually being updated. Children are encouraged to add to their profile and we welcome photographs from home. During parent/teacher meetings and other times if you so wish, you can view your child's profile. The monitoring and assessing of children's work form an important part of the planning for each child's individual development and that of the class as a whole.

Pupil Welfare

At Maple Montessori Nursery School we work with children, parents and the community to ensure the rights and safety of each individual child and to give them the very best start in life. We are committed to creating a safe setting where all staff work together to keep children safe and protect them from harm and abuse in all areas of their lives. All staff undertake regular safeguarding training to ensure they are able to recognise the signs and symptoms of possible abuse, and are familiar with the procedures for reporting and recording any concerns they may have. We have procedures for recording the details of visitors to the setting and we take security steps to ensure that we have control over who comes into the setting.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

At Maple Montessori Nursery School we protect the rights and privacy of individuals and ensure that data about them is not processed without their knowledge and is processed with their consent wherever possible. We are committed to a policy of protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals with respect to the processing of their personal data. We regard the lawful and correct treatment of personal information as very important and therefore ensure that personal information is treated lawfully and correctly. We fully endorse and adhere to the Principles of Data Protection, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. We do not share any contact details without prior permission being sought.
